The Conservatives proposed amendments to the Federal Budget 2021 in The House on April 20. Melissa Candelaria spoke with Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong who believes the budget doesn't outline a comprehensive plan for Canada's recovery.

The Ontario government may have announced the temporary suspension of in-person learning, but there is an exception. Students with special needs and their educators are expected to be back to in-person learning the week of April 19. Melissa Candelaria spoke with Halton President of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario Kathy Proctor to discuss the challenges these educators will face when back at school.

What started out as a fundraiser to earn a badge for Beavers turned out to be so much more than expected. Ethan, Edward, Nicholas and Nathan have put together about 2,000 Dynamite Bath Bomb kits and are close to their $20,000 goal for McMaster Children's Hospital and Camp Ooch & Camp Trillium. Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on April 12 that schools will be closed for in-person learning until further notice. Melissa Candelaria spoke with Ontario Liberal Party Leader Steven Del Duca to get his reaction and what he thinks the next steps should be.

The Ontario government announced on April 7 it will be prioritizing hardest hit neighbourhoods in their Phase 2 of their vaccine distribution plan. Residents 18+ in the L9E postal code area of Milton will soon be able to get the Covid-19 shot. Milton is the only municipality in Halton that was added to the priority list so far.

Unions representing teachers and school staff are calling on the Ontario government to do more to protect their members. The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario held a virtual press conference on April 7 to share its concerns about school safety, and the need for the immediate vaccination of education workers.
