The Halton Catholic District School Board hosted an official groundbreaking ceremony for Milton 10 on Mar. 26. School is expected to be complete by Winter 2022, which poses a challenge for students set to enroll in that school for Sept. 2021. Dignitaries including mayor and council, MPP Parm Gill and the Minister of Education Stephen Lecce were there to mark the occasion.

The Ontario government is investing $30-million to help the retirement home sector cover COVID-19 related costs. Milton MPP Parm Gill says over $135,700 is being invested in Milton. Birkdale Place Seniors Community is receiving $43,700, Martindale Gardens Retirement Residence is receiving $35,800 and Seasons Milton is receiving $56,100.

Milton MP Adam van Koeverden says the government has extended the deadline of the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) program. The deadline from March 31 to June 30, 2021. CEBA provides interest-free loans of up to $40,000 to Canadian small businesses and not-for-profits.

The Town of Milton gets $1,502,534 from the Ontario government to help Milton address ongoing COVID-19-related operating costs.

Milton council has voted to move ahead with a campaign to educate residents on the dangers around stormwater ponds. Councillors Zeeshan Hamid and Sameera Ali put this motion forward at the Mar. 22 council meeting.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 136 is forging ahead with their annual Good Friday Fish Fry Fundraiser. Orders can be made until March 31. This year it will be take-out only. You can schedule your pickup between 3pm-6pm on April 2. You can also take part in a 50/50 draw for an extra $5. As always this fundraiser helps the legion support our local veterans and their families.

It's been almost a month since vaccinations clinics opened in Halton Region. According to Dr. Dale Kalina, Head of Infection and Prevention Control at Joseph Brant Hospital, it's going very well.
