Local mom and entrepreneur pushing for nationwide prom
Margaret Wallis-Duffy is the person behind the Better Together as ONE movement that is committed to educating, empowering & inspiring all Canadians. As a mom herself, Wallis-Duffy says she was heartbroken that her daughter wouldn't be able to get the prom experience she wanted. This inspired Wallis-Duffy to work on creating the Better Together as ONE Canada-Wide Community Neighbourhood Prom. To read more about what Wallis-Duffy's vision, click here to read the full article.

Goodwill celebrates 85 years of Resilience
Goodwill would have had their 85th Anniversary gala on June 16th. Instead they are celebrating how they pivoted their services during the pandemic to help feed community members in need and continue to help find people employment.

A march for future change
Taevanh Henry is one of hundreds of protesters who marched against racism in the streets of downtown Oakville on Saturday, June 13. He shares his story about what it was like growing up in a predominately white community and the hopes he has for the future.

Caring for Our Climate - Oakville Film Festival
The Oakville Film Festival and Halton Environmental Network present Caring for Our Climate a 3 hour screening feature films and local short films all about environmental issues.It also features films by the high school winners of last year's Halton Green Screens Festival.
Burlington Facebook page connects Restaurants and Clientele
Burlington's Trevor Poczynek created a Facebook group to inform the public of what restaurants were offering curb side pick up and who had added delivery after dining rooms were closed. The group has been a huge success and currently has more than 12,000 members giving recommendations to each other and helping to highlight local gems.
Ontario nurses are tired of the status quo
Nurses in Ontario are offended by a pay raise they believe does not reflect their work. The Facebook group, Ontario Nurses for a Protest was created by Laura Holmes. Thousands have joined and a protest at Queen's Park is in the works in the hopes that it will convince the government to make a change. A second anti-racist march scheduled in Oakville
Speaking out against racism continues in Oakville. The first march that happened on June 4 saw about 500 protesters march downtown. However, organizers of a second march, set for June 13, say they expect to see even more people attend.A senior in high school, Hamda Mohamed gives us some insight on her life as a person of colour in Oakville.
