Halton Children's Aid Society and Halton Police have released the current statistics on calls made to report child abuse. Both are concerned by the numbers and are asking the public for help.

Halton residents for the most part are doing great when it comes to social distancing. That's according to Halton Police who says calls to the Covid-19 hotline have gone down. The number of collisions have also gone down.

On Saturday May 16, 2020 at approximately 3:10 am, police responded to a call for a shooting in Oakville. Officers attended a commercial business in the area of Iroquois Shore Road and Eighth. One male victim was located deceased at the scene by officers. A second victim was pronounced dead in hospital. The two victims have been identified as Afheed (Al) Rehmtulla (43) and Kareem Wade (34). Two other victims of the shooting are expected to make a full recovery. At this time, the motive for the shooting remains unknown. It is believed that the shooting was targeted. Investigators are appealing to members of the public for dash cam or home or business surveillance video from the area of Iroquois Shore Road and Eighth Line, Oakville between midnight and 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
