Swimmer goes the distance for World Wildlife Fund Canada
Open water swimmer and lawyer, Robert McGlashan swam 42 km across Lake Ontario on Monday, Aug.2. He began his swim at Glow Beach in Coronation Park in Oakville and ended in Port Dalhousie in St. Catharines. Robert aimed to raise $100,000 for World Wildlife Fund Canada. Conservation Halton gets federal funding to plant trees
Member of Parliament Adam van Koeverden and Minister Gould announced, on July 20, funding for Conservation Halton under the Two Billion Trees Program from Natural Resources Canada.

A swim across Lake Ontario for charity
Open water swimmer and lawyer, Robert McGlashan is embarking on a 42km swim across Lake Ontario this Saturday, July 31. McGlashan aims to raise $100-thousand for World Wildlife Fund Canada. McGlashan is starting in Port Dalhousie at 6am and will end at Glow Beach in Coronation Park, in Oakville, between 8-9:30pm. For details, go to swimforchange.ca.
Two vaccine clinics in Halton closing
Halton Region is closing two vaccines clinics at Oakville Memorial Hospital and Joseph Brant Hospital. Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward says it's no longer needed.
There are enough vaccines for all eligible Canadians, Oakville MP says
Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Oakville MP Anita Anand announced Canada has received 66-million Covid-19 vaccine doses ahead of schedule. The announcement was done at the Innomar Strategies distribution centre in Milton, Ontario on July 27. Burlington has no legal grounds to stop development at the Holland Park Garden site
Development at Fairview Street and Drury Lane will go ahead. However, the City of Burlington is working with the developer to come to a common ground when it comes to height and density.
