The Ontario government may have announced the temporary suspension of in-person learning, but there is an exception. Students with special needs and their educators are expected to be back to in-person learning the week of April 19. Melissa Candelaria spoke with Halton President of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario Kathy Proctor to discuss the challenges these educators will face when back at school.

What started out as a fundraiser to earn a badge for Beavers turned out to be so much more than expected. Unions representing teachers and school staff are calling on the Ontario government to do more to protect their members. The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario held a virtual press conference on April 7 to share its concerns about school safety, and the need for the immediate vaccination of education workers. Wellington-Halton Hills MP and foreign affairs critic, Michael Chong is now forbidden to enter China after that country's ministry of foreign affairs announced sanctions on Mar. 27. This comes following MPs voting in favour of Chong's motion to declare China's treatment of the Uyghur people as genocide back in February. The sanctions were also placed on the House of Commons subcommittee on international human rights and other individuals and entities in the US. The sanctions also include prohibiting Chinese citizens and institutions from doing business with those who've been sanctioned.
